BYU, other church universities update student honor code

BYU and other universities affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have new updates to the student honor code.
Brigham Young University officials say it continues to be a principle-based code that reflects the moral standards of the church.
The part getting the most attention is the removal of a section on same-sex behavior on campus. That section had prohibited all forms of physical intimacy. But under the revised honor code, each student still must commit to abstain from any sexual relations outside marriage between a man and a woman.
BYU posted a thread of tweets, saying the principles of the honor code remain the same.
With the recently released general handbook of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Church Educational System has updated the CES Honor Code to be in alignment with the doctrine and policies of the Church.

They explained that since dating means different things for different people, the honor code will work with students individually.
The update affects all church-owned universities, but each campus maintains its own dress and grooming standards.
This comes after the release of a new handbook from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The latest addition combines two previous handbooks into one, and it is now available to all members.
