Counting Crows cancels show due to Utah’s COVID-19 protocols

SALT LAKE CITY — A Counting Crows concert that was scheduled for Aug. 26 at Salt Lake City’s Red Butte Garden has been canceled, according to venue officials.
The band released a statement saying it canceled the stop on its “The Butter Miracle Tour” due to the state’s COVID-19 protocols.
“Unfortunately, due to state mandates in Utah, the venue for our Salt Lake City show on Aug. 26 at Red Butte Garden is unable to enact our COVID-19 entry protocols, so we have made the difficult decision to cancel the show,” the band said in a statement. “This is a decision we didn’t make lightly but we must continue to prioritize the health and safety of our fans and crew. Please check the venue website for more information. Stay well and we’ll see you next time SLC.”

Ticketholders must provide a negative COVID-19 test with 72 hours of the concert or proof of vaccination. Because Red Butte Garden is a state-owned facility, it cannot enact the band’s requirement of proof of vaccination or masks under current state law.

Florida George Line also announced it has canceled its remaining fall tour stops, including a performance at Vivint Arena on Nov. 17.
