COVID-19’s impact on children in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — With the recent surge in COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths mostly impacting adults, a group of physicians from Intermountain’s Primary Children’s Hospital are warning Utahns not to overlook the impact the virus has on children.
The group is scheduled to hold a live news conference at 10 a.m. joined with a local family whose 12-year-old child was infected and almost died after suffering a side effect known as Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C).

How To Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus
COVID-19 coronaviruses transmitted from person to person. It is a virus that is similar to the common cold and the flu. So, to prevent it from spreading:
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
- Wear a mask.
- Don’t touch your face.
- Keep children and those with compromised immune systems away from someone who is coughing or sneezing (in this instance, at least six feet)
- If there is an outbreak near you, practice social distancing (stay at home, instead of going to the movies, sports events, or other activities.)
- Get a flu shot.
