FBI: Dental records show that remains are Laundrie’s

The FBI has tweeted that dental remains have linked human remains found in a Florida park to Brian Laundrie, a person of interest in the murder of Gabby Petito.

Brian Laundrie dead
The FBI announced Wednesday that human remains were found near a backpack and notebook which they believed to be Brian Laundrie’s.
With today’s announcement, it confirms the only person who might have specific knowledge of what happened to Gabby Petito is no longer able to provide it.

The body discovered was described as “skeletal” by local police. A former FBI agent says that will make determining the cause of death difficult.
“They’re just bones. I mean, he’s basically been food for animals in that swamp area for weeks,” Greg Rogers tells Jeff Caplan’s Afternoon News.

In his professional opinion, Rogers believes this discovery will likely put an end to the investigation of Petito’s murder. However, he says that does not mean the FBI’s work is done.
“The investigation continues into the parents, quite frankly…how they knew where he was, which they did, they took the searchers right there, needs to be looked at,” explains Rogers.
It’s speculative at this point, but Rogers says the Laundrie family could face charges of providing false statements, aiding and abetting, and more.
