Helicopter pilot killed in Afghanistan to be laid to rest in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kirk Takeshi Fuchigami, Jr. will be laid to rest at the Brigham City Cemetery on Monday.

Fuchigami, 25, and his co-pilot, Chief Warrant Officer 2 David Knadle, 33, of Texas, were killed on November 20th when their Apache helicopter crashed during operations in Afghanistan.

Fuchigami is originally from Keaau, Hawaii, but his wife, McKenzie is from the small town of Corinne in Box Elder County. The two were married in March.

Funeral services are planned to take place on Monday Morning at 11 am at a chapel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 895 N. 625 W. in Brigham City.

Fuchigami will then be laid to rest with full military honors as well as a flyover at the Brigham City Cemetery located at 300 S 300 E.

Governor Gary Herbert has ordered that the flag be lowered on Monday in honor of his life and service.
