PLEASANT GROVE, Utah — (Sunday 12:45 p.m. update) Utah fire officials say that evacuations put into place near the Battle Creek 2 fire in the foothills of Pleasant Grove have now been lifted.

They urge, however, that people who choose to return to their homes should remain watchful and be wary of changes in the fire. Utah Fire Info says that if residents who have returned feel threatened by the fire, they should contact 911.

Onlookers to the fire and fire suppression efforts are strongly advised to keep the Grove Creek and Battle Creek area open to emergency traffic.

Earlier information

More than 30 homes were evacuated on Saturday in the area east of 1300 E between 200 S and Grove Creek Drive.

Officials in Pleasant Grove say that all roads east of 1300 E between 200 S and Grove Creek Drive are closed to all traffic except for those who live on those roads.

Fire Service spokesperson Toby Weed said that structures are no longer threatened

Information from Saturday:

A new fire sparked near the foothills of 200 South Street in Pleasant Grove Saturday night. Officials report the fire — named Battle Creek 2 Fire — is estimated at around 50 acres and growing as of 10:20 p.m.

Officials report some evacuations for homes between 200 South and Grove Creek Canyon Drive as a precautionary measure. Structures along 1400 East are also being evacuated.

Evacuees are being directed to Pleasant Grove Recreation Center at 547 S Locust Avenue.

Units from the Pleasant Grove Fire Department — as well as from American Fork, U.S. Forest Service, Utah County Fire and Lehi — are on the scene.

Officials report the cause is still under investigation.
