President Trump signs law naming Utah federal courthouse after former Sen. Hatch

SALT LAKE CITY — President Donald Trump signed legislation Monday evening that designates the Utah federal courthouse as “the “Orrin G. Hatch United States Courthouse” in honor of the former senator.
The Senate bill, introduced by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) in November, officially renames the U.S. Courthouse — located at at 351 South West Temple — after former Sen. Orrin Hatch, who retired from office in January 2019.
“Thank you @realDonaldTrump for signing the bill to rename Utah’s federal courthouse in Senator Hatch’s honor,” Sen. Lee posted on Twitter. “Senator Hatch dedicated his life to serving Utahns and this is a fitting tribute to his service.”

Sen. Hatch served as a U.S. senator for 42 years, making him the longest-serving senator from Utah. He was succeeded by Sen. Mitt Romney, who took office in January 2019.
The newly-signed law rules that the federal courthouse must be changed to Orrin G. Hatch United States Courthouse on “all references in a law, map, regulation, document, paper or other record.”
