SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Representative Rob Bishop announced Monday that he would not be running for Governor in Utah.
“I’ve decided to not run for governor,” he told KSL NewsRadio’s Lee Lonsberry.
This ends the speculation about whether Bishop would become the seventh GOP contender to join the race for governor. However, while he was on Live Mic with Lee Lonsberry, he took the time to endorse candidate Thomas Wright.
The other six that have declared their candidacy are:
Salt Lake City Councilwoman Aimee Winder Newton
Former Speaker of the Utah House of Representatives Greg Hughes
Businessman Jeff Burningham
Former Ambassador to China and Russia and former Governor of Utah Jon Huntsman
Lt. Gov Spencer Cox
and Former chair of the Utah Republican Party Thomas Wright
