Salt Lake police arrest domestic violence suspect who barricaded himself

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Police have arrested a domestic violence suspect who had barricaded himself at his house.
On Sunday, police arrested the suspect near the 1000-block of West Sterling Drive. The suspect was described as a 48-year-old male.
SLC911 received a call at 10:30 am about a female who had flagged down a person from the area. She reported being injured and threatened by her husband.
Paramedics were called, she was transported to a hospital with a non-life-threatening head injury.
During the investigation, police officers gave verbal commands to the suspect who went outside briefly, he ignore them and went back inside. The victim told officers the suspect had pointed a firearm towards her and her daughter making threatening statements.
The SLCPD SWAT Team and SLCPD Crisis negotiator were called in after numerous attempts to get the suspect to come out had failed. Eventually, the suspect came out and surrender to the officers before backup arrived.
Detectives are currently on the scene investigating the incident.
