Utah State Fair, A scaled back Utah State Fair could happen next month...

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Utah State Fair announced Friday it would be hosting the state fair as scheduled in September, hosting its traditional contests and exhibits. The “Go Pig or Go Home” fair is scheduled to be held Sept. 10-20.

The fairpark said it is closely monitoring updates concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, placing guest and employee safety as its highest priority.

“We will continue to work in tandem with public officials and health professionals and implement best practices,” fair officials said in a statement.

The news comes one day after Utah County commissioners announced its county fair would be postponed until 2021. The fair is usually held in August.

It also echoes the postponement of the Fourth of July summer event at Provo’s Freedom Festival, which was pushed back to curb the spread of the virus. However, a fireworks show will be held in honor of health care workers and essential employees instead — with more information on that in the coming days.

We want to hear from you.
