Physicians meet needs with walk-in orthopedic clinic in Murray

MURRAY, Utah — Two physicians had a goal to open a walk-in orthopedic clinic at the Intermountain Health TOSH Campus in Murray. Three years in, they’re helping hundreds of patients every week skip a waiting list.
Primary Sports Medicine Doctor, Jared Dunn said it was persistence from his friend Corey Velnap, a physician’s assistant, that led them to take the leap and open their own walk-in orthopedic clinic.
“He kept bugging me … he was like, ‘Dude bring me out here … We’ll start a walk-in clinic. It’ll be great!'” said Dunn. “I was really hesitant, that was right about the time of the pandemic.”
They took the leap.
What began as seeing 12 patients a day has surged to around 50. On the busiest days they see up to 90 patients. The clinic, Ortho and Injury, recently added Saturday service to help patients who can’t get out of work during the week.

Additionally, other Utah doctors have been sending patients their way.
“Primary care, urgent care, athletic trainers galore will text and say, ‘Hey I saw this thing, can you can you see him today?'”
Despite the growth, Dunn isn’t focused on the scoreboard.
“We’re never going to be at about the numbers, were not that kind of place. We want to get people good care, truly,” said Dunn.
