President Donald Trump broke his silence on Twitter Friday afternoon, telling followers in a video he believes he’s doing “very well” despite his COVID-19 diagnosis. This came as the president left for Walter Reed Medical Center “for a few days” where he’ll continue working from the presidential suite.

“I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support,” President Trump said in the video. “I’m going to Walter Reed Hospital. I think I’m doing very well.”

The president tweeted the video after nearly 18 hours of silence from his Twitter account.

“We’re going to make sure that things work out,” President Trump said. “The first lady is doing very well. So, thank you very much. I appreciate it, I will never forget it.”

The video comes less than 24 hours after President Trump tweeted both he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday night. Since then, the White House reported the president was experiencing “mild symptoms.”

“President Trump remains in good spirts, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day,” said press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. “Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the president will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days.”

We want to hear from you.
