Katy Perry music video under investigation

BALEARIC ISLANDS, Spain — The newest Katy Perry music video “Lifetimes” is under investigation for unauthorized filming in a protected area of Spain.
According to Billboard, the investigation is looking into whether the Katy Perry music video had an impact on the environment.
A statement from the region’s environmental department said that while the use of the location was not an environmental crime, the production company responsible for the video did not apply for authorization to film in the location.
The video was partially recorded on protected dunes in Ses Salines Natural Park. Mallorca Daily Bulletin, a news outlet in Spain, reported that the area is roped off and prohibits entrance.
The video depicts Perry celebrating and dancing in different locations.
El Pais, another Spanish news outlet, said that the dunes on which Perry was filmed are in one of the most ecologically valuable areas of Spain’s Balearic Islands.
Perry experiences a rough comeback
“Lifetimes” is the second song to be released from Perry’s forthcoming album “143.” It is scheduled for release on September 20. Perry released her last album, titled “Smile” in 2020.
The single follows the July 11 release of “Woman’s World.” It has received harsh criticism.
According to Forbes, Perry has been called a “hypocrite” for working with producer Dr. Luke on the synth-driven track.
Luke was sued by Kesha for sexual assault. However, he continues to deny the allegations.
NPR reported that Kesha and Dr. Luke settled the lawsuit in June 2023.
Additionally, Perry has been criticized for the revealing outfits featured in the video. In a July 13 Instagram reel, Perry said that the video was meant to be sarcastic.
Since the reel was shared two days after the single’s release, it appears that she was expecting the criticism. The reel appeared to have been recorded during the production of the video.
