SALT LAKE CITY — Two Led Zeppelin researchers are asking Salt Lake City locals for help. They are looking for photos from the band’s 1973 show in Salt Lake City.

In an email to KSL, the researchers said that the May 26, 1973 show is the most recent Led Zeppelin show with no existing photo or video documentation.

This year will mark the 51st anniversary of the band’s performance at The Salt Palace.

There aren’t even any photos of the band’s 1973 performance on their official website

James Cook, a journalist from the United Kingdom, runs the website LedZepNews.

He said that “[the] show was a historic event and photos or videos of it may be sat in someone’s attic or basement waiting to be discovered.”

Cook teamed up with Eric Levy, who is based in the United States. Levy runs LedZepFilm, a YouTube channel dedicated to the band.

“We’re appealing to Salt Lake City locals to ask whether they can help us solve a 51-year-old rock and roll mystery about the show,” said Cook.

If you have any photos from the concert and would like to share them, the email said that you can send them to ledzepnews@gmail.com.

Led Zeppelin at The Salt Palace

According to the band’s official website, Led Zeppelin played 15 songs at The Salt Palace. The list included well-known hits like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Rain Song.”

While the band’s website doesn’t include photos from the performance, it does include scans of memorabilia. Fans can view ads, press releases, and even a backstage pass.

One piece of memorabilia said that every show on the North American Tour sold out. An excerpt from a news article about the show said that the Salt Lake City crowd was only about “11,000 plus fans.”

There is an audio recording of the 1973 concert on YouTube. The recording sounds like it was taken in the audience. It is hard to decipher what is being said at times. However, one of the band members addresses the audience as “Salt Lake City,” at the end of the recording.

According to the band’s website, Led Zeppelin only played in Salt Lake City three times. The May 26, 1973 show was their last time playing in Utah.
