Living Planet Aquarium hosting its first concert

DRAPER, Utah — For the very first time, The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper is hosting a concert this August.
According to a press release, the concert will be August 10, 2024 and feature the tribute band Hollywood U2.
You may recall the enormous, bizarre-looking structure that took up residence near I-15 several years ago. Coincidentally, it was installed shortly before the onset of COVID-19 lockdowns, leading to some humorous commentary online.

Now dubbed the EECO, it was originally a stage piece for U2’s 360° Tour. The Living Planet Aquarium purchased the structure after the tour.
When first purchasing the stage, Brent Andersen — the founder and CEO of the Aquarium — remarked on the possibility of U2 coming to Utah to perform with it.
“Everyone is asking that,” said Andersen. “It certainly would be wonderful if they did.”
While they aren’t U2, the tribute band performing in the upcoming concert may be a close second. Hollywood U2 has won multiple awards and performed on the show “The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands” three times. The tribute band’s lead singer, Joe Hier, was invited by Bono — lead singer of U2 — to perform on stage with U2 in 2015.
“He was the split of me,” Bono said of Hier, “he sang beautifully.”
The Aquarium is offering both standard admission and a meet-and-greet dinner for the upcoming concert.
