NEWARK, N.J. — They haven’t been a band since at least 2007, but *NSYNC reunited at the 2023 MTV VMAs. On Sept. 12 they presented the Best Pop award to Taylor Swift.

The reunion didn’t end with the appearance of Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick on the stage.

The band has announced it will release its first song in 21 years.

The new track, ‘Better Place,’ will be released on Sept. 29, according to E! News.

The track is featured in the trailer for the upcoming “Trolls 3” movie franchise, which was released on Wednesday, according to E! News.

The announcement came hours after the band teased some news via Instagram. In the video, the band recreated a scene from the popular television show “Friends,” using audio clips from a scene where Joey and Rachel say they know something, but won’t reveal what.

The band was formed in Orlando, Florida in 1995, according to IMDb. They saw immediate success in the late ’90s, and heavily influenced the smooth, danceable, and catchy sounds of the music of the 2000s.

With their second album “No Strings Attached,” the band sold 1 million copies in a single day, and 2.42 million albums in a week. They held that record for fifteen years. It was broken by Adele in 2015, MTV reported

During their active years, the band received a number of Grammy nominations. Their singles “Bye Bye Bye,” “This I Promise You,” “Girlfriend,” and “It’s Gonna Be Me” all reached the top 10 music charts internationally.

“It’s Gonna Be Me” also charted number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 in the U.S., according to IMDb.

The band embarked on five nationwide tours and sold over 70 million records. These achievements earned them the title of the “fifth best-selling boyband in history,” according to IMDb.

In 2002, the band announced a “temporary hiatus.”

After years passed, Lance Bass said the band “had definitely broken up” in 2007.
