RIVERTON, Utah – On the corner of Redwood and 12600 South, a party of decorative skeletons are living their best lives.
The gaggle of boney friends located at Riverton’s “Spirit Corner” has had quite the social schedule. Every day, they’re doing something different. A yoga retreat happened only a day after a pool party.
And then the group held a presidential debate, only to get physical with a tug-of war the next day.
Don’t panic if you suffer from skelephobia. These plastic-post-mortem Riverton residents aren’t the product of a witching-hour curse. Instead, these displays are a seasonal way for Riverton city to connect with their living residents.
“We’ve done this many years,” Riverton Communications director Josh Lee said. “Each day is different. A different group of city employees … will dress up skeleton corner… It’s a fantastic little community tradition we have.”
He mentioned its a particular hit with kids on their way to school each day.
Lee credited city leaders who wanted residents to feel more knit together, whether they work for the city or not.
“People love to see it,” he said. “It does help create a great hometown community feel. I think that’s why people like to live here in Riverton.”
Lee is glad to know city leaders want to have fun
The skeletons will be partying until Halloween, and if you can’t make it to Riverton then you can always see what they’re up to on the city’s Facebook.
