SPINGDALE, Utah — For hikers who wish to visit Angels Landing in 2023, Zion National Park will hold four seasonal lotteries throughout the upcoming year.

According to a news release, the park had a successful launch of the Angels Landing Pilot Permit Program in 2022. And these lotteries are building off that.

“Issuing permits is something we did after substantial public input, and it has been effective,” Jeff Bradybaugh, Zion National Park superintendent said in a news release. “In 2023, park rangers will continue recording data and enhancing the pilot program to maximize the number of people making the hike while minimizing crowding and congestion on this half-mile, perennially popular trail.”

Dates for Angels Landing 2023 season lotteries

  • Jan. 1 to Jan. 20. Permits will be issued Jan. 25 for hikes from March 1 to May 31
  • April 1 to April 20. Permits will be issued April 25 for hikes from June 1 to Aug. 31.
  • July 1 to July 20. Permits will be issued July 25 for hikes from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30.
  • Oct. 1 to Oct. 20. Permits will be issued Oct. 20 for hikes from Dec. 1 to Feb. 29, 2024.
