SALT LAKE CITY — A 9-year-old boy is in the hospital after being hit by a car in Roy Tuesday evening.
According to Stuart Hackworth with the Roy City Police Department, the incident took place at the intersection of 4400 S. and 1900 W.
Hackworth said the 9-year-old boy was crossing 1900 W. either on a scooter or pushing it alongside him. At the same time, a car heading southbound struck the boy. Hackworth said it may have run a red light directly before hitting the boy.
The boy was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital via medical helicopter with serious injuries.
At this time, no citations have been issued. Hackworth said potential charges depend on the investigation of the incident and the ultimate condition of the 9-year-old boy.
The road is partially closed as authorities investigate the accident. Hackworth anticipates it will reopen in around half an hour.
