Juvenile male in custody after threat at Ben Lomond High School, police say

OGDEN — Authorities detained a suspect in connection with the threat made against Ben Lomond High School. Police said the suspect was found in Washington.
The Ogden Police Department announced that the juvenile male suspect was taken into custody Tuesday morning.
“This remains an active investigation, with the Ogden Police Investigations Bureau working closely with federal, state, and local partners to ensure all appropriate charges are pursued,” Ogden PD said.
The department said all persons of interest had been taken into custody and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Since the suspect was a minor, police did not release any information about him.

OGDEN — A threat was reported at Ben Lomond High School on Thursday morning, according to the Ogden Police Department. Police stated that they were investigating the situation as a genuine school threat and not a hoax.
The Ogden Police Department stated in a Facebook post that the scene is “fully” cleared and no explosives were found.
Police said school resource officers and first responders were on scene at approximately 10 a.m., “taking every precaution to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the surrounding community.”
Police said all students were “safe and clear,” and there were no reports of injuries.
Capt. Tim Scott with the Ogden Police Department said the threat was not a hoax. He said the incident began as a bomb threat that was called into Weber dispatch, but law enforcement received more information and escalated their response. Part of that heightened response was due to “situations” at the school the previous day, Scott said.
Scott said the threat was “in or around” the school, but it was not immediately announced what exactly the threat was.
The captain said nobody was in custody. Roads around the school were still closed at 12:30 p.m. as Ogden Police, Ogden Fire and SWAT responded.
Scott advised parents of children at ben Lomond to watch for updates from Ogden School District.
The school district released a statement saying that while it wasn’t immediately clear if the threat was credible, school officials treated it very seriously and enacted emergency protocols.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the building was cleared while law enforcement and fire department personnel conducted a thorough safety sweep. Students were safely relocated by bus and parents were provided with clear instructions for reunification,” the district said.
All classes and activities were scheduled to resume as normal on Friday, and the district said counselors and resources would be available to students.
