SOUTH JORDAN — Police asked the public to avoid the area of 10990 South and River Front Parkway on Tuesday after someone reportedly made a bomb threat at the Life Time gym there.
The South Jordan Police Department announced on Facebook that officers were “investigating an incident” in that area at approximately 2 p.m.
Sgt. Henderson with the South Jordan Police Department said the manager of Life Time said they got a call from someone saying they had placed an explosive in the building.
“The individual said they were in the parking lot in the car with explosives and devices, and firearms,” Henderson said.
Henderson also said the individual said he would “kill everybody at the Life Time Fitness” if officers didn’t show up.
Police reportedly didn’t find the individual, and the gym was evacuated. Henderson said bomb-sniffing dogs were still combing through the inside of the gym.
The Dancing Moose Montessori School, across the street from the gym, was also placed on lockdown as a precaution, Henderson said.
Henderson said police believed this was a “swatting incident,” but officers were still investigating.
