Hiker found dead in Zion National Park, investigation ongoing

SPRINGDALE, Utah – A hiker was found dead in Zion National Park Sunday.
At approximately 7:06 a.m., officials received a call reporting the possible fall of a hiker on the Canyon Overlook Trail in Zion National Park, according to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders with Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue arrived at the trail at approximately 7:40 a.m., where they reportedly “found a male deceased,” and determined he could not be helped.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived shortly after first responders and confirmed their findings. A search and rescue team helped with the recovery of the hiker.
No identification was provided at the time of publication, and the investigation is ongoing.
