A press release form the Sandy Police Department on Tuesday said the victim was 39-year-old Josh Pectol from Sandy. He was taken to Intermountain Health Intermountain Medical Center, where he passed away.
Sandy PD confirmed that nobody had been arredted in connection with the shooting by Tuesday morning.
“We, Sandy Police, ask that anyone in the area between 8530 South to 9000 South and from State Street to 700 East between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., who saw anything suspicious or have video from the area that may be useful to our investigation to contact us at our TIP Line (801)568-INFO or submit anonymous tips at https://sandy.utah.gov/453/Tip-a-Cop,” the press release said.
There were people who witnessed the shooting. They are cooperating with the police, according to Olsen.
At this time, police do not believe there is a danger to the public, and say the shooting “was possibly done by a known person.”
