Motorcyclist dead after collision with truck in Ballpark neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist was killed in an accident with a pickup truck at 1700 S. State Street on Saturday evening.
Police were called to the scene at 6:14 p.m. The Salt Lake City Police Department said the motorcyclist died after being taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the truck was said to be cooperating with police.
“We are diverting all southbound traffic on State Street at Kensington Avenue. Westbound traffic on 1700 South is being diverted to northbound State Street,” SLCPD said.
“Based on the preliminary information, the motorcyclist, traveling south, and the pickup, turning left from State Street to westbound 1700 South, collided,” SLCPD said in a press release.
The department said this accident is the second deadly crash in Salt Lake City so far this year. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
