SALT LAKE CITY — A truck has crashed into Oquirrh Lake in Daybreak on Thursday.
According to Det. Shaun Becker with West Jordan police, a truck was traveling eastbound near the Oquirrh Lake boat ramp, where it blew through a stop sign and hit an unoccupied BMW parked on the ramp.
Becker said that the truck landed upside down in the lake, and that the driver was pulled from the vehicle by good Samaritans, who performed CPR until medical personnel arrived. The department said that the driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Becker could not estimate the speeds involved in the crash, citing early investigative efforts. Dive teams are also on scene and are searching the area around the truck for any further victims.
Becker also could not comment on intoxication, citing the driver’s “extreme critical” condition.
“Our community is very strong here,” Becker said. “And you can see that from this unknown individual needing help, and everybody rushing to their aid.”
This is a breaking story, and may be updated with further information.
