West Valley City remains identified as missing man

SALT LAKE CITY — Police have confirmed that human remains found in a West Valley City pond in March belong to a man who has been missing for several years.
According to Roxeanne Vainuku with the West Valley City Police Department, the remains belong to Justin Hooiman, who has been missing for seven years.
Hooiman’s skull was discovered by a fisherman floating in a pond near 4220 West Lake Park Boulevard on March 25, 2025. Along with his skull, several other remains were recovered from the pond by police.
