SALT LAKE CITY — A 12-year-old boy is in the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in West Jordan Wednesday afternoon.

Officer Ahmed with the West Jordan Police Department said the incident occurred around 3:53 p.m. near Begonia Dr. and Cyclamen Way.

The 12-year-old boy was riding on an electric scooter when he was hit. Following this, he was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

Ahmed said the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police, and they do not suspect impairment at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
