COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah — Police have arrested the wife of Matthew Johnson, a man who was reported missing in September.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Cottonwood Heights Police Department arrested Johnson’s wife, 41-year-old Jennifer Gledhill, on suspicion of murder.

According to a probable cause statement, Gledhill told a confidential informant that she killed and then buried her husband in a shallow grave.

The probable cause statement also said police found evidence to suggest that Glendhill shot Johnson in the head in the home’s master bedroom while he slept.

Johnson was initially reported missing by Gledhill on Sept. 20, according to Cottonwood Heights Police.

Police said since Sept. 21, Johnson’s phone would go to voicemail and he had no contact with anyone including his children. Along with this, he never returned to work or left any evidence suggesting he was still alive.

Efforts to find him were unsuccessful until Monday, Sept. 30, when police found Johnson’s truck a few blocks from his home.

The investigation has revealed that witnesses reported Gledhill and Johnson were arguing around Sept. 20, before he went missing.  Based on the evidence, police believe Johnson is dead.
