Delays reported on all 3 TRAX lines after truck hits train

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority reported system-wide delays Thursday morning after a truck reportedly ran a red light and hit a TRAX train.
Gavin Gustafson with UTA said the accident happened at approximately 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of 800 South and 200 West.
Gustafson said a truck was heading west on 800 South and failed to stop for a red light, hitting a TRAX train that was heading south. Both the truck and the train were damaged, but it was not immediately clear if anybody was injured.
Trains on all three UTA lines were delayed by 15 to 20 minutes, according to an announcement made by the agency. Gustafson said a bus bridge was in place between the 600 South and Ballpark stations. However, the scene was cleared and the bus bridge was canceled.
Gustafson urged drivers to be attentive on roads, especially on days like Thursday, when people will be out watching parades.
The accident was under investigation.
