TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — On Wednesday, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill charged individuals connected to Jorge Llamas’ alleged murder.

Llamas’s girlfriend at the time of his death, Ariana Aguilar, is being charged with murder, aggravated burglary, obstruction of justice, and retaliation against a witness.

Aguliar’s daughter, Natalie Estella Aguilar and Alejandro Mendoza are being charged with one count of murder, aggravated burglary and obstruction of justice.

Four other unidentified minor males were also involved. A juvenile court is screening their charges.

The initial incident

On Oct. 13, Taylorsville police found Llamas unresponsive in a bedroom, with his girlfriend Ariana Aguilar on top of him, according to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office.

Medical personal announced Llamas dead on the scene. They then heard commotion in the living room and found Aguilar holding a woman on the ground and hitting her. Police then took Aguilar into custody.

Witness report

The woman she was hitting told police that Aguilar and Llamas fought earlier in the evening.

Llamas had allegedly locked Aguilar outside. She returned to the home with her daughter, Natalie, and five males, one of them Alejandro Mendoza, four of them juveniles. The woman Aguilar was hitting said two of the males went into Llamas’s room, then she heard a shot. She then saw Natalie and the males run from the home.

Interview with the daughter

Natalie later told police that her mother had called her after her fight with Llamas. She said that they needed to “jump him” because he had “put hands on” her, the press release said.

She says she drove to the home with Mendoza.

Police say surveillance footage near Llamas’s home shows the five males walking toward the home, breaking a window screen, opening a window, and entering the home. Natalie told police that one of them had a visible gun.

She says Ariana reportedly led them to Llamas’ room where he was sleeping, and one of them shot him.

“This tragic loss of life was preventable. We want to express our heartfelt support to the family as they grieve the loss of their loved one,” said Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill. “We thank Taylorsville Police Department for their thorough investigation that helped lead to these charges being filed. All persons accused of wrongdoing are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”

We want to hear from you.
