Man arrested after allegedly injuring 2 with a knife at a West Valley City party

SALT LAKE CITY — A 52-year-old was arrested on Saturday after allegedly injuring two people with a knife.
According to a police affidavit, Anh Hoang Ly was arrested in West Valley City for two offenses of “aggravated assault,” two offenses of “threaten with/use dangerous weapon in fight/quarrel,” one offense of “public intoxication,” and one offense of “disorderly conduct.”
Police said Ly was at a party with a male and a female when an argument began.
“The argument escalated, and (Ly) grabbed a hammer and hit the male victim in the back of the head,” police said. “The female victim tried to stop (Ly), and (Ly) grabbed a knife and cut her hand.”
According to police, Ly then stabbed the male in the stomach and cut the victim’s leg as well. Both victims who were injured during the incident were brought to the hospital for treatment.
After being read his Miranda Rights, police also said Ly admitted to hitting the male and to being intoxicated.
