Man accused of throwing Molotov cocktail at house in Salt Lake County

SALT LAKE CITY — One man is accused of allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at a house in Salt Lake County.
According to court documents, upon his return home from a trip on March 3, Scott Parker noticed a shattered glass bottle near his son’s car.
After reviewing his home security footage, Parker saw a silver Honda Odyssey stop in front of his house on Jan. 11 at 11:30 p.m. According to court documents, Parker saw the occupant of the van throw a bottle onto his driveway, which then caused an explosion. He said the suspect then lit a similar fire nearby.
Parker and his son accused Jack Richard Halvorsen of being upset with Parker’s son, filling a glass bottle with gasoline, placing a paper towel inside to use as a wick and then lighting it and throwing it at Parker’s house.
At this time, Halvorsen is facing a first-degree felony.
