Man arrested for illegal possession of a loaded firearm in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department arrested a 45-year-old man for illegal possession of a loaded firearm after an officer found him with a handgun an extended magazine containing more than 30 bullets.
The department said a patrol officer saw two people trespassing near 65 North 900 West Friday night. One of these people was Rodrick Dowling.
The officer and her backing officer approached Dowling and found the loaded handgun and magazine inside of his bag.
A 45-year-old man is in jail after one of our officers found him in illegal possession of a loaded firearm and an extended magazine, containing more than 30 bullets.

Police said officers also found a container with several blue M30 pills they said contained fentanyl, as well as a container with suspected methamphetamine.
Officers booked Dowling into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
Police said Dowling is facing charges of “being a restricted person in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of an altered firearm.” Dowling also had outstanding warrants.
