ST. GEORGE, Utah — A Beaver County man will spend 364 days in jail, followed by a year of supervised release, after assaulting a U.S. Forest Service employee.

According to the District of Utah Office of the United States Attorney, 52-year-old Kristopher Edward Boger attacked a U.S. Forest Service engineer in May 2023.

Before the assault, the engineer was examining a road on U.S. Forest Service land. It had been rendered nearly unusable by “frequent work truck traffic,” per a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.

The engineer saw an attempted repair to the road by Boger’s brother, Jeremiah.

Per the press release, Jeremiah’s work was insufficient and did not align with repair recommendations.

Following the discovery, the Forest Service engineer contacted the Boger brothers and a contractor.

Boger hit, choked and threatened the Forest Service engineer

After meeting with them, the meeting allegedly grew violent. The press release said Jeremiah pushed the engineer. Then, Kristopher hit the Forest Service engineer on the side of the head with a hard hat.

After hitting the engineer, Boger began to choke him. The press release also alleged that Boger threatened to kill him.

The contractor accompanying the Boger brothers intervened, pulling Kristopher from the engineer. Afterward, Boger fired a handgun.

The engineer and contractor left the scene and called 911.

“No one should fear for their life while doing their job to ensure road safety for travelers,” said Felice John Viti, the District of Utah’s acting United States Attorney

Both of the brothers were charged with assaulting an employee of the United States. Kristopher Boger’s trial began in August 2024.

Kristopher was found guilty of assaulting a U.S. employee with a weapon in December 2024. Jeremiah was found not guilty.
