SALT LAKE CITY — The Vernal Police Chief said on Thursday that the man charged with killing a woman in 2024 “remains the sole suspect responsible” for her death after he claimed he was innocent in a media interview.

Henry Cito Piano Resuera Jr. is accused of killing his Roosevelt neighbor, 60-year-old Kimberly Hyde, and then fleeing to the Philippines. This week, Resuera called East Idaho News from the Philippines, saying, “I can’t be silent for too long. The other side of the story must be known. I don’t know what will happen next, but I just put my trust to God as I know I am telling the truth and that I am innocent.”

Chief of Police Mike Gledhill released a statement on Friday saying several of Resuera’s claims in the interview were “contradicted by verified evidence in our possession.”

Resuera told East Idaho News he had nothing to do with Hyde’s death, and that he was being set up by her husband, Michael Hyde. Gledhill said Hyde has been nothing but cooperative with police investigations.

“Throughout the investigation, Mike Hyde has fully cooperated with law enforcement. Mr. Hyde voluntarily submitted to a polygraph examination administered by an independent, third-party law enforcement polygraph examiner. The results indicated no deception,” Gledhill said.

The police chief said investigators remain reticent to release details about the case, since it’s still ongoing. Henry Resuera remains the sole suspect, Gledhill said.

Mike Hyde also released a statement on Thursday, asserting his innocence and asking Resuera to stop lying.

“I urge Mr. Resuera to summon even an ounce of decency to stop lying, take responsibility for his actions, and accept the consequences of his evil acts,” Hyde said.

He said he was asked not to speak to the media about the details of his wife’s death in order to avoid jeopardizing the investigation, but that Resuera’s interview required him “to speak out and defend myself and my spouse.”

Hyde shared his version of events, saying that on Oct. 7, 2024, he found his wife was missing when he came home from work.

“Her vehicle was gone and she was unresponsive to phone and text messages. After failing to establish her location with family and friends, I filed a missing persons report with the Roosevelt City Police Department,” he said. “The police then began attempts to locate her. I drove around the Roosevelt area all night looking for her vehicle, with no success.”

Hyde said the following morning, blood was found in his home, and his house “quickly became a crime scene.” He said his wife’s body was found in her car in Vernal on Oct. 8.

“Later, police showed me a street camera picture of a man of small stature wearing a baseball cap, mask and gloves, driving Kim’s car. I was shocked when I found out that the man driving Kim’s vehicle was our friend and neighbor, Henry Resuera,” Hyde said.

Hyde urged the public to “stop speculating on social media” and allow police to continue their investigation. He also urged Resuera to accept responsibility.
