SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist was killed after being hit early Monday in Salt Lake City by a driver who then left them there, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Just after 1 a.m., officers were on scene investigating the crash at 2100 S. 400 East. SLCPD said the driver ran a stop sign, hit the motorcyclist and did not stop. The motorcyclist was killed due to the impact, police said.

Their identity was not immediately released.

SLCPD said the roadway was expected to reopen by the morning commute.
