SALT LAKE CITY — A man who was hiding in an alcove with many others after shots rang out at the ‘No Kings’ demonstration in Salt Lake City may have been one of the shooting suspects.

Ben Behunin told Inside Sources that he and about 40 other people were sheltering on the corner of 100 South 200 West when people started running past him, panicked and scared.

“Fright and fear in their faces as they ran past,” Behunin said. “Some of them ducked into the alcove where I was standing.”

Behunin said many of them took shelter with him in the alcove before police found one of the people they were looking for.

He was in the same alcove.

A friend of Behunin’s saw that the man had a rifle and alerted police.

Behunin said they all ran out of the alcove as police began to take control of the situation. He said one of his friends saw one of the shooting suspects, 24-year-old Arturo Gamboa. He had a rifle, the witness said.

Then some in the group sprang into action, alerting police. Behunin took the following video, showing Gamboa’s arrest.

One person died of his injuries after he was shot at the ‘No Kings’ demonstration. According to police, 39-year-old Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, a Utah resident, was hospitalized in critical condition. He later died of his injuries. He had a wife and two young children.

Police said members of the event’s “peacekeeping team” shot Ah Loo while shooting at Gamboa. Police believe the peacekeepers began shooting because Gamboa was allegedly moving through the crowd with a rifle.

Three people, including Gamboa, are in police custody in relation to the deadly shooting.
