One arrested following apparent road rage incident near Centerville

CENTERVILLE— A man has been arrested following a road rage situation on Monday night on I-15 near Centerville. There was a gun involved.
Utah Highway Patrol told KSL Newsradio that 911 dispatchers got a call around 7:44 p.m. from a woman who said another driver near the Parrish Lane exit had shot at her.
UHP troopers pulled the other driver over near 200 North in Kaysville. Troopers were able to reach the woman near Layton Parkway. Both were driving north when the events unfolded.
The woman told troopers she saw two muzzle flashes. Additionally, she said that the man who was driving the other vehicle pointed a black handgun at her.
“There were no injuries. We can’t confirm that any shots were fired at this point, but the driver that brandished the weapon was arrested and booked into jail,” said UHP Seargent Cameron Roden.
Authorities shut down northbound I-15 between Parrish Lane and Park Lane in Farmington sometime after the incident to investigate.
Troopers arrested the man after they said they found a gun in his car. UHP said they believe this was a road rage situation that escalated to the point that he brandished the gun. He was booked into jail Monday night. He could face charges.
Roden said “People make mistakes while driving. We can’t take those mistakes personal. We have to make sure that we’re safe for everybody while we’re driving because these road rage situations often escalate to a point where crashes happen or situations like this that put a lot of people in danger not just the people involved.”
