Suspect arrested in death of man at homeless storage in downtown Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY — Detectives have arrested a 41-year-old man suspected in the death of a 65-year-old man at a downtown Salt Lake City storage area.
Nathan David Evans was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County jail on one count of murder and one count of obstruction of justice. Both the suspect and the victim were employees at the business.
Police said the victim’s name is known, but that they are still trying to find his family.
Clothing belonging to the suspect, and other pieces of evidence, were found at the scene according to police.
The victim was found at A Place for Your Stuff, at 502 West 300 South in Salt Lake City on Wednesday morning. The location is also known colloquially as Temporary Storage Place, or TSP.
The facility offers free storage to homeless people who have items they don’t want to take to a shelter.
On Wednesday, SLCPD Sgt. Mark Wian said an unresponsive person was found around 11 a.m. Wednesday at the storage facility.
Wian said officers found the person dead when they arrived on the scene.
