Police arrest woman suspected of stealing car with dog still inside

CLEARFIELD, Utah — The Clearfield Police Department arrested a 31-year-old woman Thursday for allegedly stealing a car and assaulting the owner. The woman is accused of stealing the victim’s car with her dog still inside on Sunday.
According to probable cause documents, 31-year-old Melissa Rush was arrested by Clearfield Police on suspicion of robbery, theft, assault and trespassing.
The documents allege that Rush stole a 74-year-old woman’s car keys at a gas station on Sunday. The victim tried to pull Rush out of the car, but Rush allegedly put the car into reverse, caused the victim to fall over, and than dragged the victim across the parking lot.
The probable cause document said the 74-year-old suffered a broken arm, bruising and road rash.
The victim’s dog, a 7-year-old Shih Tzu named Reo, was inside when the thief drove away.
Police said in the press release that the victim’s car was found Sunday afternoon, but Reo wasn’t inside. The press release also included photos of Reo.
As of Thursday morning, Reo still hasn’t been found.
