Man turns himself in to police after hit and run in Roy hospitalized woman

SALT LAKE CITY — A man has turned himself in to police after a 77-year-old woman was injured in a hit-and-run Wednesday afternoon.
Roy police said the accident happened near 4400 S. and 2350 W. Officer Stuart Hackworth said the woman was crossing at an unmarked intersection, from south to north, when she was hit.
According to Sgt. Josh Taylor with Roy Police, the suspect, Jose Wilfredo Salgado-Rivera, age 29, turned himself in to police on Thursday afternoon.
Suspect is military member according to Roy police
Salgado-Rivera is from the Clearfield area and is an active-duty member of the military according to Sgt. Taylor. He turned himself into his command staff, who then contacted Roy police.
He has been booked into the Weber County Jail on suspicion that he failed to remain at the scene of an accident, a third-degree felony.
The victim was hospitalized in serious but stable condition on Wednesday. On Thursday, Taylor said she remains hospitalized in stable condition.
