Security guard arrested for manslaughter after nightclub fight, police say

OGDEN, Utah — A security guard was arrested for manslaughter Saturday afternoon, according to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a booking affidavit, the incident occurred at a nightclub near 35th St. and Washington Blvd. on Sunday, Feb. 23.
According to WCSO, Martin Esparza Espinoza, 56, was working as a security guard when he confronted a man who refused to pay for his food.
As Espinoza and other security guards confronted the man, a fight broke out, resulting in the man being left lying in the road, according to the affidavit.
Authorities stated that while the man was lying in the road, a car leaving the parking lot ran the man over.
Per a previous report, the man later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
WCSO said it’s unknown if the driver of the car was involved in the fight or not.
Espinoza was later arrested and charged with manslaughter, according to the affidavit.
