SALT LAKE CITY – A police officer was reportedly attacked while responding to a trespassing call in Salt Lake City Friday.
Lt. Brandon Shearer with the Salt Lake City Police Department said at approximately 12:30 p.m., the officer was responding to a reported trespassing near 550 W. 500 S.
The officer was reportedly attacked with a “blunt object.” KSL TV was at the scene following the incident and discovered a rock was used against the officer.
Other officers arrived and a suspect was taken into custody, Shearer said.
The officer who was hit was taken to a hospital in “fair condition.”
Shearer said the investigation is ongoing, but likely charges could include aggravated assault on an officer and trespassing.
