SOUTH SALT LAKE — A man was taken into custody Friday after police believe he was present at a murder in South Salt Lake on Wednesday. They believe it was the result of a drug deal.
A probable cause statement said 50-year-old Michael Angus was arrested on accusations of aggravated murder. The statement said Angus, along with two other men, went to the victim’s apartment to take money back for a drug deal they had done earlier.
Angus reportedly admitted to police that he had been sold fake drugs, so he went back to the apartment to get his money. He told police the man at the apartment pulled out a gun, and one of the men he was with pulled out his own gun and shot him.
“(Angus) and the other males were seen on camera walking into the apartment complex and were putting on gloves, signifying that they were willing to take the money by force and did not want to leave fingerprints,” the statement said. “One the males pulled a firearm and shot the victim ultimately causing his death.”
The statement said Angus would not give police information about the other two men involved. It was not immediately clear if they were in custody.
