West Valley City police identify couple found dead in their home

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police in West Valley City have released the names of the two people found dead in their home on Wednesday.
Terri Bertelsen, age 63, and Kerry Bertelsen, age 67, are the mother and father of suspect Erik Bertelsen.
The investigation continues into the double homicide/officer involved critical incident which occurred on Enterado Ave. 1/1/25. On Wednesday at 5:01 p.m, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from 3310 W. Enterado Ave.
When officers entered the residence, they found the adult son, Erik.
“During the encounter, an officer fired on the suspect, killing him,” said West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said in a statement.
According to KSL.com, the son had just been released from prison last month.
