Wrong-way driver arrested in St. George

ST. GEORGE, Utah — A wrong-way driver was spotted by a police officer on Riverside Dr. Wednesday at approximately 5:10 p.m.
The driver almost crashed head-on into multiple vehicles and then got onto I-15 at mile marker 6 at Bluff Street.
Lt. David Williams of the St. George Police Department confirmed that at around 5:13 p.m. officers were able to stop the vehicle just past the exit. The suspect did not comply with officers, so officers had to conduct a high risk stop.
The suspect, 52-year-old Michael Heck, was safely taken into custody.
Police found firearms in the vehicle and smelled alcohol. Heck also had bloodshot eyes and a flushed face.
The suspect admitted to drinking, and his blood test showed that he had three times the legal limit.
Heck has been charged for allegedly driving under the influence, reckless driving, failing to stop for an emergency vehicle, and possession of a weapon by an intoxicated person.
