Alpine School District welcomes 85,000 students back to school

OREM, Utah — Alpine School District welcomed students back to the classroom Wednesday morning. In total, the state’s largest school district welcomed 85,000 students to 93 schools.
While academics are the kids’ main focus, Orem High School’s Student Body President Carter Van Buren couldn’t help thinking of the beginning of school sports.
“I’m looking forward to events and sporting games,” VanBuren said. “Just getting everyone out in the student section and being loud and supporting our fellow tigers.”
As for Alpine School District administration, Communications Director David Stephenson said they’re looking forward to a more “normal” school year.
“We’re optimistic that the year is going to go really well without too many issues with COVID …we’re looking forward to a great… normal school year.”
The Alpine district hasn’t escaped the staffing crisis being reported across the state, and they still need to fill positions. Specifically, they are in need of bus drivers and nutrition workers.
