Caucus locations, dates and times for 2024

SALT LAKE CITY — Presidential elections are right around the corner. To prepare for the elections states all around the country have been holding caucuses. Now, it’s Utah’s turn.

Each party’s caucus is different this year. Some are held in person, others are online only, and some are providing the option for both online and in person.

If you are planning on attending a caucus this year, the information for each party can be found below.

Democratic Party

This party has a list of caucus locations on the Democratic Party’s website, caucus locations vary from in person to online.

According to the Utah caucus website, the Democratic caucuses will start at 7 p.m. on March 5.

Constitution Party

This party has a list of caucus locations and times on the Constitution Party website

Some of the locations are noted to be a mix of a caucus and a convention with speakers involved.

There are also breaks mentioned in the notes of this party’s caucuses.

United Utah Party

This party’s website states that its caucuses will be held on March 5 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

There is a list on the party’s website naming nine locations for the United Utah Party, one of them will be held virtually.

Green Party

The Green Party will be having a meeting and nomination convention on April 27 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

It is noted on the Green Party website that “The GPUT is not eligible to hold a primary on March 5 since it was not a recognized party until after the deadline

for registering with the state for a Primary.”

The meeting and nomination convention will be held at the Salt Lake Public Library in meeting room B. 

There is also a virtual option for the Green Party meeting. According to the Green Party, people need to register for the virtual option on the Green Party website.

Independent American Party

According to the Independent American Party website, its caucus will be held “by electronic means” on March 5.

The website notes that those who want to join the caucus can find the information needed to attend on its website on March 4.

Republican Party

According to Robert Axson, the chairman of the Utah Republican party,  this party is reported to have a high number of caucuses.

Axson said the party has around 2,500 individual precincts and many hundreds of locations state-wide.

All of these caucuses are occurring on the same day, this is why its party is not marked on the map below.

People interested in attending a Republican Party caucus can find a caucus near their location by going to this website and filling in the information needed to find that location.

The Republican Party states on its website that their caucus and presidential preference poll will be on March 5.

According to Axson, all of the caucuses will start with a check-in at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. Ending times depend on the number of people at the precinct. 

 

Caucus locations

In the map above, there are locations marked for the Democratic Party, Constitution Party, and the United Utah Party.

The parties marked on the map have locations listed on their websites and are meeting in person.

People can also go to the Utah caucus website to find a caucus being held near them.

When clicked on, markers will show the date of the caucus in the title. The time of the caucus is listed in the details, along with other information.

Code for the map: Purple markers represent the Constitution Party, blue markers represent the Democratic Party, green markers represent the Green Party, and brown markers represent the United Utah Party.
