SALT LAKE CITY — An event focusing on the importance of young people voting will be held Monday night on the south steps of the Utah State Capitol Building.

Event organizers say the Utah Will Vote rally is a nonpartisan celebration of the diversity of experiences and backgrounds in Utah.

“Because of the fact that all of our votes matter,” says March for Our Lives Utah Public Relations Director Daud Mumin. “No matter whether they’re for Republicans, or Democrats, or moderates, or Libertarians.”

But the main purpose of the gathering, according to Mumin, is to remind Utah youth their future is on the ballot.

“This rally moves past Tuesday. It comes to 2020, 2022. It’s an endless sort of passion,” explains Mumin.

An array of youth speakers will cover all the bases of voting.

“We want to make sure that people know how early voting works, voter registration works, how voting on the day-of works, what are the polling locations,” Mumin says.

The rally is free for all ages from 6 to 7 p.m.

We want to hear from you.
