WASHINGTON, D.C. — Much like the Democratic National Convention last week, the Republican National Convention this week will look very different from past years.

Instead of meeting in person in Charlotte, North Carolina, Republicans will gather virtually to protect RNC attendees from coronavirus. Speakers will address Republican voters remotely.

What to expect from the Republican National Convention

The events will stream nightly from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. EDT, or 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. MDT. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence do not face any challengers for the Republican nomination, so they will accept the nod to run for re-election. Party conventions do serve another purpose, however: to solidify the party’s base around a central platform and its candidates.

The RNC takes place over four nights, with different speakers each night. President Trump will speak Thursday night to formally accept the nomination of his party.
